- Target:
- Congressman Tom McClintock
- Region:
- United States of America
Whereas, California Congressman Tom McClintock (R- District 4) has not yet endorsed a candidate for president in 2012;
Whereas, Texas Congressman Ron Paul is running for president in 2012;
Whereas, Paul believes that government should not restrict the liberties of the people, saying: "Liberty means to exercise human rights in any manner a person chooses so long as it does not interfere with the exercise of the rights of others."
Whereas, McClintock shares strong pro-life values with Paul, who was endorsed for president by Norma McCorvey (Jane Roe) in 2008 because he introduced the Sanctity of Life Act, a bill to define human life as beginning at conception and remove jurisdiction over abortion from the federal courts to allow the states to pass protection to the unborn;
Whereas, Paul has asked, “If you can’t protect life then how can you protect liberty?”;
Whereas, Paul believes the federal government should not police the world, opposes wars of aggression in foreign lands and seeks equal protections for both the born and the unborn by advocating persuasion in preference to force;
Whereas, McClintock opposed the war in Libya, stating, "The President may only commit armed forces to hostilities for sixty days if there is a direct attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions or its armed forces" and Paul shares this sentiment, stating, "The president attacked Libya abruptly – he didn’t even bother to consult Congress – so why can’t he order an end to military action just as abruptly?"
Whereas, Paul says he will focus on fixing America's economic problems and make it a priority to defund endless wars, such as those in Iraq and Afghanistan, which are estimated to have already cost a combined $1.2 trillion;
Whereas, these wars, along with other federal spending such as the bailouts, entitlement programs and other unconstitutional programs, have been funded by the Federal Reserve through a massive expansion of the money supply;
Whereas, the Federal Reserve's ability to interfere with the money supply has caused skyrocketing prices and sparked the collapse of the dollar's value, as predicted by Paul in 2002, when he said, "Federal Reserve policy will continue at an expanding rate, with massive credit expansion, which will make the dollar crisis worse";
Whereas, McClintock voted against H.R. 2016 - Homeland Security Appropriations Act, and Paul predicted the police state overseen by the Department of Homeland Security in 2002, saying, "Erosion of civil liberties here at home will continue as our government responds to political fear in dealing with the terrorist threat by making generous use of the powers obtained with the Patriot Act";
Whereas, throughout the land, the federal government has sent hither swarms of officers to harass the people, examples of which are seen in the fining of a family $4 million for raising rabbits, a Department of Education SWAT raid to collect overdue student debt, raids by the FDA of family businesses that sell milk and a multitude of other cases;
Whereas, Paul supports a truly free market and would allow the economy to thrive naturally by eliminating the income tax, fazing out entitlement programs and ending the Federal Reserve's manipulation of the organic market;
Whereas, McClintock was first elected to Congress by only 1800 votes in 2008, after having received Paul's endorsement;
Whereas, McClintock claims to have voted for Ron Paul for president in the 2008 Republican primaries;
Therefore, be it resolved, that we the undersigned,
1) Respectfully urge Congressman Tom McClintock immediately issue an endorsement of Ron Paul's campaign for president;
and
2) Further, insist that McClintock do all in his power to ensure the successful election of Ron Paul as President of the United States in 2012.
