The headlines are that the Vortex, having been a vibrant jazz cafe for 15 odd years or more, was evicted and relocated, and the building which hosted it is now threatened to be sold off to the highest bidder regardless of its impact on a chain free community.
We want to put pressure on the owner to return the building to an arts community status, by stopping any further planning applications from being granted. If a solution is possible to obtain the building, we propose to put together an arts proposal including local residents and businesses into account to create a thriving centre for the arts.
