Each year, between 140 and 160 officers are killed in the line of duty and their families and co-workers are left to cope with the tragic loss.
Please petition the Florida Parole Commission and ask in your own words that they not grant a parole to Thomas Edward DeSherlia who murdered my husband Officer Ron Parker.
Victims, Widows & Family Member Will Serve Time For the Rest of their Lives! However, if we extend the parole hearing intervals to 7 years these families will not have to relive these horrific incidents as often.
My name is Brenda Parker. In 1975, my husband, Officer Ron Parker was murdered. Ron's murderer was sentenced 25 to life. For the last decade I have been attending a parole hearing or preparing to attend a parole hearing. The emotional stress, precious loss of time and financial hardship for all concerned even though the tentative release date is years away. There are approximately 5,000 families in Florida dealing with this same dilemma.
I need your help to write letters and to call your Florida representatives to encourage their vote when Senate bill 200 and House bill 261 is prepared to be introduced to extend the intervals between interviews/parole hearings from 5 years to 7 years for those cases with release date of 25 years or more.
