The section of the Leeds ring road known as Broadway cuts the town of Horsforth in half.
There is currently NO pedestrian crossing on Broadway between Toby Carvery (Fink Hill) and Lawnswood (Spen Lane), which is a distance of around two miles though a heavily populated residential area.
Broadway is very busy and very fast, but many Horsforth residents need to cross it daily.
Most people use the "pedestrian refuge" 2 stage crossing at Stanhope Drive, but this is not adequate, as vehicles have priority and there are no lights.
This is particularly an issue for school children, older people, and parents with young children and pushchairs, who often become stranded on the small middle island with fast traffic on either side.
We want a pelican crossing at the junction of Broadway and Stanhope Drive so that people can finally safely travel on foot from one side of Horsforth to the other on foot.
We the undersigned call on Leeds City Council to provide a pelican crossing at Horsforth Stanhope Drive and Broadway.
