As you approach the magnificent Wembley Stadium up Wembley Way, you are looked down upon by a statue of the late, great Bobby Moore. he was our captain when British Football had it's finest hour and England lifted the Jules Rimet trophy in 1966.
But the scandal of Wembley stadium is the scant regard shown to the man who Gave Mooro his opportunity and who masterminded the great victory, Sir Alf Ramsey.
Upon taking the job of manager of England in 1962, he boldly and bravely predicted that England would win the World Cup in 1966 and set about building his team bringing in players and systems that were questioned by many at the time. But Alf did not allow that to distract him from achieving his objective and stuck to his guns and built a great team which took on the World and fulfilled his "we will win" prediction of 4 years earlier.
Now, as we approach the 50th anniversary of that great day it is time that the FA honoured Sir Alf by erecting a statue of him to stand alongside that of Bobby Moore.
No England Manager deserves it more and the only reference to him that exists at the stadium currently is a small sculpting of his head looking out towards the pitch in the tunnel. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
Sir Alf MUST be shown the respect he and his legacy deserve, so please, if you care about the history of the great game that is Association Football then sign this petition and send a strong message out to the FA that we as the Footballing Public demand that they duly honour the greatest manager that the English, and probably the British game has ever produced.
We, the undersigned, call on the FA to Honour the memory of the late, great Sir Alf Ramsay by erecting a statue of him to stand alongside that of Bobby Moore at Wembley Stadium.
