We Need Fiber Now

If you live within the city limits of the City of Lexington, Oklahoma, situated at the edge of the huge and rapidly growing Oklahoma City metropolitan area, you already know that your available Internet speed is pegged at "Slow" and "Sporadic". This is due to the two primary ISPs, Suddenlink, and Windstream, and their chronic delay in rolling out fiber optic facilities, which they will not do unless competition forces them to. Citizens have been waiting far too long, as they see surrounding communities being offered reliable, high-speed fiber optic based broadband service. Right outside of city limits, fiber service is offered by OEC.

This petition is to demonstrate to OEC, how many citizens want and need fiber now, to catch up with the rest of the country, as well as the rest of the OKC MSA, and to further demonstrate to the governing City of Lexington, that its citizens want it to quickly approve an OEC franchise agreement to allow OEC to utilize the City's public rights-of-way to install their fiber facilities underground and to attach to existing utility poles, to offer high speed Internet to residents, increase the City's franchise/tax revenue, grow Lexington's economy, reduce commuting time for citizens that work out of town, and to increase competition and drive down prices.

We can wait no longer, we need fiber now.
