There is an issue that has concerned me for a long time – There hasn't been a “great” StarFox game since the Nintendo 64. I emphasize “great” because there were a couple of Gamecube StarFox games that were definitely less than adequate.
Gamers need a new StarFox that has online support and plays like the older StarFox games.
There is an issue that has concerned me for a long time – There hasn't been a “great” StarFox game since the Nintendo 64. I emphasize “great” because there were a couple of Gamecube StarFox games that were definitely less than adequate.
How awesome would it be to play StarFox online in the old N64 style? And how awesome would it be to play those games on new levels? And finally, how awesome would it be to have 32 player support in an all-out StarFox free-for-all? I have asked several friends and co-workers these same questions. So far, not a single one has said they would not play this game, yet the game does not exist.
The best part about this is how easy and cheap it would be for Nintendo to make. They already have the basic code from the N64 so all they would need to do is dust it off and add some tweaks to it. So much money is spent on developing "next-generation" graphics in new games, but when I play StarFox 64, I love the way it looks already. I asked other people again and nobody said it looked bad.
I began wondering more and more about this. I started thinking, 'maybe Miyamoto doesn't realize the potential here and what the series could be.' I began wondering, if he heard enough gamers express their desire, maybe he would listen. So here is where I am now.

Here is what I feel should be included in the new game:
1.) Up to 32 player support including split-screen and online play. This would allow squads of up to 8 players and clans (basically a friends list).
2.) Leader-boards for individuals and for teams (squads).
3.) Live chatting (like on X-Box live) - I know I would pay a few bucks extra to talk to people in the game.
4.) Bots / sprites – This is especially nice for co-op matches. In the StarFox 64 there was a level like the movie "Independence Day" with tons of enemies to shoot. This would be awesome for co-op play. It would also be helpful for extra enemies because one-on-one matches don't offer as much excitement.
5.) Avatars and Emblems- Let each player choose an animal, the color of his skin or fur, and the clothes he wears. Squad Emblems would also be a nice addition. This makes the game more personal.
6.)Some New game modes: a.) The standard Deathmatch (up to 4 players), Team Deathmatch (4 teams of 4), and Big Team Deathmatch (4 teams of 8) should be included.
b.) Hunter – one player grabs a flag/item and tries to hold it for a certain amount of time, when he dies the flag is dropped and someone else can grab it.
c.) Defender – 4 teams compete to defeat the most sprites (like the Independence Day level)
d.) Battleground – 32 player free-for-all with sprites shooting at you but points are awarded for killing other players only
7.) New levels: a.)More levels like Corneria where there are buildings to fly around
b.)Destroyable buildings/environments like in the single-player game
c.) larger maps for the 16 and 32 player games

Obviously, there are many more possibilities that can be worked into the game. I do feel this is a good start. Please feel free to leave suggestions if you have other ideas!
If you feel this is an awesome idea, I implore you to sign this petition. Right now, I am aiming at 10000 signatures.
I remember back when my friends and I would all get together and have huge tournaments blasting each other on Corneria and I'm sure you do too. I want to have those awesome battles again!
P.S. Something else that would help in this kind of game would be to leave out the Wiimote motion control. Yes it is innovative, but there is something to be said for conventional controls as well. This could require a new controller (or at least make it an option). If Nintendo released a controller that resembled the N64 controller I would buy it.
