Please rename the rebuilt Tappan Zee Bridge the "FRANKLIN + ELEANOR ROOSEVELT TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE," because Franklin + Eleanor Roosevelt, who lived in and loved the Hudson Valley, were the 2 most important and influential Americans in the 20th Century.
On 8-10-1921 Franklin Delano Roosevelt was suddenly attacked by the polio virus, which paralyzed him from the waist down.
Although he couldn't walk after 8-10-1921, FDR could drive, using hand controls he designed in Warm Springs, GA, where he founded a polio clinic. You can see FDR's hand-controlled 1938 Ford at the FDR Library in Hyde Park, NY.
We conquered the Depression and won WW2 thanks to the inspired -- and inspiring! -- leadership of Franklin + Eleanor Roosevelt.
Because FDR loved driving his hand-controlled cars in the Hudson Valley, and because we are thankful to Franklin + Eleanor Roosevelt for all they did, we respectfully request that the rebuilt Tappan Zee Bridge be named the
'FRANKLIN + ELEANOR ROOSEVELT TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE."
