On the 24th December 1915 the 15th Battalion (North Belfast Volunteer) Royal Irish Rifles went into the trenches around Hamel, France. Corporal Thomas Bradshaw was shot by a German sniper and fell outside the paraphet.
Rifleman James Baird aged 19 tried to rescue his comrade and he himself was killed by the sniper. Rifleman Shaw also tried unsuccessfully also to bring in Corporal Bradshaw. Corporal Bradshaw died of wounds the following day.
We ask the MOD to Recognise the Bravery of these two Rifleman and award Recognition for their Brave actions.
