DEMAND MANDATORY PAROLE AT 55! DEMAND the millions $$$ saved for education.

$1.1 BILLION! That’s the state prison budget. Demand Mandatory Geriatric Parole at age 55. Millions of $$$ saved that could go to Education!

The US has more prisoners than any other country in the world, 22.2 million! (Chant now: “U-S-A…U-S-A”.) Cost is $30,000 annually for each prisoner. Healthcare is the most costly expense, and it is a joke!

"I watched him lose like 50 pounds in 3 months, and he died a month later of pancreatic cancer. He was refused any medical testing. They never did anything. Another friend of mine went to medical and said, 'I'm having chest pains,' and they gave him two Advil and told him to sign up for sick call. At 5:30 in the morning, when they woke everybody up for count, he was dead.”

At one prison for women, Abigail Turner, a lawyer for the Legal Aid Justice Center, has filed suit on behalf of several inmates, including Jeanna Wright. Wright complained to the prison nurse about intense abdominal pain and rectal bleeding for a full year and nothing was done. Finally, referred to a doctor, she was diagnosed with stage IV abdominal cancer. She died in April of 2012.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics, between 1999 and 2007 the number of prisoners 55 or older doubled. Prisoners with SOARING MEDICAL CARE! And statically no recidivism.

Despite, knowing all this, Parole Boards apparently flip a coin for who is released, only blessing 3% for parole, ignoring the other 4,000 eligible prisoners. EXCUSE ME. Are they STUPID? Something as simple as MANDATORY RELEASE OF ELIGIBLE GERIATRIC PRISONERS, 55 years old, would fund 4 year education scholarships for thousands of students. Or DECREASE YOUR TAXES!
