I recently had my son go off to college and ODSP started deducting $638.00/mth of his ODSP loan from my monthly income and when i told them that i cant buy food or medicine with that low of an income, they mailed me a list of the local food banks to use and cant pay my bills.

Before the deductions i could take care of our needs. But now how am i supposed to take care of my needs and have a decent home for my son to come home to and provide him with meals, a roof over his head and clothing on his back? He still depends on me for certain needs. He's not fully on his feet yet, he's just gotten off the ground and ODSP does not care to understand this. I know for most parents we would like to take care of our kids and provide a loving, caring home for them and as they grow up and fly away to their own nests, that's great. But not until they can stand on their own two feet which ODSP fails to accept and understand.

We are paying back double, once through ODSP deducting from my monthly income and the second is my son paying back ODSP the same monies they deducted from me plus interest. It is not fair, especially when you need the money so badly.

We, the people, would like to see fairness from ODSP to all parents who have children or young adults so we parents can keep, feed, clothe and educate our children without being penalized for receiving gov't aid.
