Indigenous Peoples have the right to keep their children at home. Indigenous Peoples have traditional ways of caring for their children, as families and communities, and the Canadian state has no business in continuing to take those children away, put them with foster parents, or decide arbitrarily where they should live and with whom. Indigenous laws take precedence when it comes to Indigenous children. There are no treaties with Canada which state that Canada is the authority over children and their family life. Join the Líl'wat mother Loni Edmonds in her demand to have her children back!

Her case has been accepted before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. Sign the petition and show the Commission that Loni's case could make a difference for many more Indigenous families.

We, the undersigned, call on the international community to condemn Canada's routine practice of seizing Indigenous children from their homes. We stand behind Loni Edmonds, and all Indigenous mothers and fathers who have lost their children to the state for reasons which have no merit under the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.

We demand recognition of Indigenous Peoples' right to self-determination, and protection of their children. Furthermore, we demand that Canada cease its efforts to assimilate and annex Indigenous peoples and territories, the centuries-old practice of which has impoverished and de-cultured Indigenous Nations and Peoples. We demand that Canada stop violating Indigenous Peoples' internationally recognized human rights.
