According to the US Constitution's 2nd Amendment, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." The State of Arizona's Constitution states under Article 16 Section 2 "The organized militia shall be designated "The National Guard of Arizona," and shall consist of such organized military bodies as now exist under the laws of the territory of Arizona or as may hereafter be authorized by law". This goes against the spirit of the law of the Federal Constitution and should be repealed immediately.

We, the undersigned, demand Article 16 section 2 of the Arizona Constitution be repealed on the basis that it infringes on the rights of the People of Arizona. A militia, in this sense, is defined as citizens of a country, or subjects of a state, who may perform military service during a time of need, as opposed to a professional force of regular, full-time military personnel. The National Guard is a professional military and does not meet the requirements of a militia as defined. We do not want the disassembly of the National Guard nor are we requesting funding. We simply demand our right to assemble and form a militia to be immediately restored per the US Constitution.
