Ever since the revolution in 1979, the women of Iran have been treated unfairly. Their lives are almost completely ruled by the men who almost always make the decisions for them.
Many new laws that were made in the revolution promote discrimination against women. An example of such a law is stated in Article 201; "During stoning, a man is put in a hole up to his waist and a woman up to her chest."
The law provides that if a person who is to be stoned manages to escape, he or she will be allowed to go free. Since it is easier for a man to escape, this discrimination is literally a matter of life and death. Help stop such discrimination against women and sign our petition; it is a matter of life and death.
To the United Nations: We the undersigned petition that stronger action be taken to ensure that women's rights in Iran meet with current international standards.
